I’m Prepping My Apartment For Fall And You Should Be Too.

I know it feels like summer just began, but don't be fooled. Fall is just around the corner, and it's time to prep your apartment for the best part of the year. I'm dropping this blog post early, so you can get a jump on the season, which officially begins on September 22nd. Keep reading to see how I'm prepping my studio apartment and what you can do to ready your own space.

It's Time For A Deep Clean

Before bringing in new decor, you have to say goodbye to the dust building up on your baseboards. It doesn't matter if you invest in a cleaning service like I do or prefer to do it yourself; all I know is the best way to kick off a new season is by cleaning up and cleaning out.

If you're unfamiliar with booking a cleaning service, I recommend hiring a Tasker through Taskrabbit. Click here to save $10 on your first job.

Don't Forget About Your Mattress

This tip goes along with #1, but many people forget (or don't know) that you're supposed to rotate or flip your mattresses every few months. Whether you flip or rote depends on the kind of mattress you have, but here is a handy guide if you’re unsure what to do.

Also, deodorize your mattress before putting on those brand-new sheets! First, lay down a healthy layer of baking soda, leave it on for 2-3 hours, and then vacuum. Finish off with your favorite essential oil, and you are good to go.

A Signature Scent

Every season deserves its own special scent. It can be a room spray, smelly pot, candle, or a mixture of all three... It doesn't matter!

More Storage, Please!

Fall means cooler weather.

Cooler weather means hats & scarves.

And hats and scarves need somewhere to go.

Add storage to your entryway with wall hooks or slim cabinets like this one or this one!

Checking For Vintage

A change of season is when people start to throw things out or move - see Tip #1 for more. But, what's the old saying? One man's trash is another man's treasure. Yeah! This is the time to hit Facebook Marketplace, your local flea market, and the estate sales sites for quality vintage. Remember to be safe when shopping on Beyoncés internet.

Until next time.
