During last week's IG Q&A, someone asked how I budgeted for my projects. And this directly applies to the gaping hole between my Elfa shelving system. Long ago, I spotted this Shelter daybed from West Elm and decided it would be the perfect form of secondary seating in the office. At that time, it was on sale for $880, and I was so excited I didn’t even see the 6-week lead time, a rookie mistake. I would have bought it right then and there, but I didn't have the money. As a freelancer, I get paid 30, 60, or even 90 days AFTER work is posted, so I like to pay my rent months in advance to ensure my biggest expense is handled and I'm not stressed day-to-day. This, of course, means I can't buy $3,000 wallpaper or a gorgeous daybed on a whim, no matter how perfect they are... p.s. I just purchased the Fulawa wallpaper - hallway makeover coming soon! 😜 Today, the chair is full price, $1,200, with a 6-week lead time, and the performance velvet fabric I wanted is backordered. 🤦🏾♀️ But I have the money to make this purchase... Which leaves me with a decision to make. Should I; Buy the daybed now and delay the reveal of my home office or Forget about this West Elm option and buy one of these cheaper and readily available daybeds
The latter would mean the reveal happens sooner, and I can get started on my next set of projects, but I'm afraid I'll never be happy with my second choice… Lend me your thoughts (and prayers). What should I do, Homies?
