Varnish Lane - The Best Nail Salon in D.C.

I’ve always enjoyed getting my nails done. I love the pampering and primping and can spend 2+ hours in a nail salon, no problem. That said, in the past I didn’t too much with my nails because, “my nail beds suck!” (s/o to Karen)

That all changed two years ago when I started going to Varnish Lane (West End). Ever since, I’ve been so extra with my nails and I freaking love it! I’ve been dying to share more information about this incredible place and now that I’m an officially blogger, I figured there was no better time like the present.

Here are my 4 reasons why Varnish Lane is The Best Nail Salon in D.C.!

It’s Waterless, Baby

If you ever gotten an infection from a nail salon, you will understand the importance of going to a place that is clean - with a capital C! Varnish Lane believes that water “is a leaded instigator of nail infections”. And I agree! Since becoming a client at Varnish Lane, my nails have been in the best shape yet + I don’t have to deal with any nasty cuts around my cuticles!

COVID-19 Protocols

We may be getting back to normal, but I still find myself judging business based on how they acted at the height of COVID. IMO Varnish Lane had one of the best responses. Fewer appointments, additional space between clients, touch-less polish rack, mask + face shields, and waivers. Their commitment to cleanliness and professionalism extended into COVID, and I was very appreciative!

My Girl, Marjorie

Marjorie H. is the baddest manicurist in the game - PERIOD. Our initial meeting was a hot mess—I was 40 minutes late to the appointment because I went to the wrong location- but she graciously waited for me & provided the best pedicure I've ever had. She's creative, funny as hell and quick! If you can get on her calendar, you're lucky!

The House of Abundance

I’m a Black Girl that loves luxurious shit! I’ll drop money on drinks, dinner, and a trip, but my budget won’t allow for $1500 shoes. That said, I will put down $150 on my nails and sip Prosecco in the cozy butterscotch chairs at Varnish Lane. Everything from the customer service, the product lines, and the decor gives off an air of luxury!

Varnish Lane has four locations in DC - West End, Mount Vernon Triangle, Friendship Heights and Navy Yard [coming soon], and one in Charlotte, NC.

Be sure to make an appointment and be prepared to give up acrylics/Dip - VL is all about the gel nail!
