My Self-Care Routine

Imagine this.. you wake up after finishing a massive DIY project. You're filled with excitement at your new sink, light fixture, or peel and stick wallpaper install, and just as you are about to jump up for your morning #hotgirlwalk, your back says — "ah ah ah!"

DIY-ing is all fun and games until your knees and back start cracking. I usually work on 2-3 projects at a time, so my body is generally in a wonky state, but it never lasts long due to my fool-proof routine. Here are my top 3 ways I practice self-care so I can continue investing in my happiness.

Stretch It Out

Each morning, I wake up my mind and body with a 20-ish minute class on YouTube. Usually it’s an Isa Welly beginner mat pilates class or a de-stress flow by BK Yoga Club! Taking a few minutes out of the day to quiet my mind and focus on caring for my body are precisely what I need to prepare my back and shoulders to hold up wallpaper for three hours, lol! 😜

Log the F*ck Off

I'm a full-time entrepreneur with a part-time job, so I know a thing or two about hard work. That said, in order to continue doing the work I love, I have to set firm boundaries. I DO NOT WORK on Sundays or Mondays and typically spend my version of a weekend binge-watching Real Housewives! (Have you started watching Dubai yet?)

Between social media and the lure of hustle culture, we are all working too damn much and resting too little. So use your PTO; you deserve it!

Invest in Self-Care…

There is no one size fits all definition of self-care. For some people, self-care included a bubble bath by candlelight; for others, it's beers and a baseball game. My version includes a deep-cleansing facial and 90-minute massage at TuSuva Body & Skincare, but you do what you've got to do!

Well, I'm about to take a nap because… self-care. Good Night!

Xoxo,

Imani
