My name is Imani, and I hate boob lights. What are boob lights, you ask? They are the most disturbing household fixture known to humankind and are a favorite of landlords across the country. They're ugly but have no fear; I've found the cutest flush mounts (& other styles) the internet offers for this week's Imani's Home Favorites.

What Size Light Do I need?

Here’s the quick & dirty equation to determine what size light you need for an open room like a living room or bedroom.

Step 1: Measure the length & width of your room. (9 ft. x 16 ft.)

Step 2: Add those two numbers together. (9 ft. + 16 ft. = 25 ft.)

Step 3: Every foot of your room’s size equals an inch l in width of your ideal lighting fixture size. (25 ft = 25 inches)

The ideal light is 25 inches wide!

How To Install A Light Fixture

Changing a light fixture isn’t too hard, but I’ll be honest, this is the one DIY that I’ll probably never tackle. However, I’m deathly afraid of being electrocuted, so I’ll continue hiring professionals from TaskRabbit to handle this particular upgrade.
